Having a Sunday Funday

I love my Sunday brunches and even though it’s madness to herd 3 kids around on a weekend where one is supposed relax and take it easy, the allure of delicious bacon, good coffee and some fresh air is often too difficult to resist. Besides, these little family outings, while fraught with mayhem, are also usually the highlight of the kids’ week. Especially when there are playgrounds involved.

It’s been a while since I captured some of these moments on camera so last weekend, I brought my trusty DSLR along for a couple of happy pictures.

It’s so cheesy but watching them so happy makes me happy.

I need to do this more often.

Little Love Letters

In the spirit of  Valentine’s Day, I made some cards for my 3 little pint sized valentines.

The husband was all like “Oi, I thought your valentine is supposed to be me, where’s my card?” But drawing pictures by hand turned out to be harder than I thought so I figured I’d buy him dinner or something. What’s that about a man’s heart being in his stomach? Or is it the stomach being in the heart? One of those.

And yes, all the cards were drawn by hand on my trusty iPad. I surprise myself with my talents sometimes. Heh.

If I ever had any doubt…

Kirsten Finn

I took this shot of Kirsten over 3 years ago when she was 4 months old, right about Finn’s age now. And I came across the pirate stuff while packing so I did the only thing left to do, which was to reenact the shot with baby Finn.

Right, so my pirate princess is a little chubbier around the edges and she was far less smiley as a baby but if you look at the basic features, they’re totally the same.

Will the real Ernie please stand up?

Finn vs Ernie

Last week, someone pointed out on my Instagram feed that baby Finn looks like Ernie (hat tip to Juli for pointing it out!) and ever since that idea got incepted in my head, now every time I look at my son, I start to hum “Rubber ducky, you’re the one, you make bath time lots of fun…”

My favorite Sesame Street character used to be Oscar but I think Ernie has just stolen my heart.

Definitely a keeper

I’m really enjoying taking pictures of the kids these days.

Especially Kirsten, who’s an expert at hamming it up for the camera. She’s practically a professional camera-hammer-upper once the DSLR is out and she’ll freestyle to produce a gem like this.

The flower in the hair? Her idea.

The hand on Tru’s cheek? Also her idea.

The priceless gaze? All her.

Truett was clearly as bewildered as we all were but props to him for going along with it.

Smile and the world smiles with you

This is what baby Finn does when he wakes up in the morning. Or after drinking his milk. Or during a bath. Or when he’s asleep. This is pretty much what he does throughout the day.

He’d be yelling for milk and when one of us picks him and smiles at him, he’ll stop and flash us this killer grin that makes my heart explode from too much love.

He smiles at his siblings and they’ll be all “awwww…baby Finn likes me SOOOO MUCH, he’s smiling at me!” I didn’t have the heart to tell them that baby Finn smiles at everyone but yes, he does like you so much.

He smiles at random strangers and some will stop to fuss over him. One lady even wanted to carry him but it suddenly occurred to me that she might grab him and run because he’s too cute. (Ok, it wasn’t likely but this is how babies get abducted, y’all.)

He’ll be a heartbreaker, this one.
