Baby pals

This is Finn with Katelyn, my friend’s gorgeous little girl. They were born 5 days apart and both have the same explosive hair to match their chubby cheeks. We don’t do much matchmaking these days but if we did, this would be like a match made in heaven.

They’re probably going to grow up and be all “ew, no way…I saw him eat his booger as a baby.”

But then life has a funny way of working out and just in case they do end up together, this would make the coolest wedding montage photo.

Princess diaries

I can’t remember a time where I ever woke up in the morning and felt inclined to put on a pretty dress. In fact, me and dresses, we’re like cordial acquaintances who give each other a curt nod during weddings, stuffy parties and important dinners.

You could say that as far as my daughter’s relationship with dresses is concerned, the apple fell pretty far from the tree. She wakes up in the morning and immediately looks for a pretty dress to put on, even if it’s for 15 minutes before having to change into her preschool uniform. She prances and twirls and already knows more girly poses at age 3 than I do at age 30. She goes into a store and makes a beeline for the prettiest dress on display, holds it against her body and asks, “Do I look like a princess, mom?”

I used to want a girl who’s exactly like me but you know what?

The one I got is so much better.

Homeboys

We had baby Finn out in the living room for some awake time and Tru came over to lie down beside him, making for one of those irresistible Kodak moments.

I think I’m really starting to like having two boys.

Kirsten has been going around telling everyone “I have TWO brothers.” I think she’s enjoying it too.

Travel babies

The kids are travel babies. We’ve been back from our last holiday for less than a month and they’ve been asking about their next holiday.

“Remember we went to Gold Coast so fun right?”

“We play with the sand, see the animals, sit roller coaster…was it fun, mommy?”

“Shall we go again? I think we need a holiday.”

To their credit, they are fantastic travelers. They don’t fuss on long car rides, they stand in queues patiently, they eat whatever we eat and they seem to actually enjoy being cooped up in a plane for 7 hours.

But with Finn’s impending arrival, it doesn’t look like we’ll be traveling for a while and we’ve told them as much.

So for the next best thing, I’ve been working on a series of travel photos to put up in their room so that from time to time, they can look at the pictures and talk about how much fun they had and find that happy place again.

Pregnancy in pictures

I’m usually not very comfortable showing off my giant belly, which explains why I didn’t do a photo shoot the last two pregnancies. Also, I figured I’d be pregnant again so there’s always the next time. But I’ve been wanting to get some photos of my belly this time around. You know, just in case I don’t do this pregnancy thing for the fourth time.

So I got the kids to be the props and the husband helped to take the photos.

Tru was all “Why mommy never wear shirt and Truett never wear shirt?” and I didn’t really know what to say except, “Well, it’s um, artistic.”

Street Fighter

I can’t quite make up my mind about Thai boxing.

It’s a tad too brutal for my liking and there’s no way I’m ever going to send my kids for boxing lessons to have them come home with a bloody lip or missing a tooth.

But it’s so cool though. I mean, Ong Bak?

When we saw this pair of boxing shorts during our last trip to Bangkok, I just couldn’t resist.
