kids inc, picture perfect

Kirsten and spice and all things nice.

Took the camera out for a spin at Vivocity with baby girl yesterday and here’s what I came home with – absolute awesomeness.

I’ve never been a fan of the great outdoors, what with the sun and sweltering heat and makeup melting off my face and beads of sweat trickling down my head. But now I can’t wait to get out in the sun because the outdoor light is magnificent. Makes all the pictures pop.

To say I’m obsessed is an understatement.

Those photos look fabulous! :) And welcome to the perspiring perpetual photo-taking club… heh…

I agree, natural light’s fantastic… you might want to try photographing the kids in the mornings/evenings instead, so that its cooler for everyone. Plus the light’s softer and not as harsh compared to the afternoon sun!

@Jus, I’ve heard about “golden hours”, the first and last hours of sunlight for good photography lighting.

Unfortunately they are also my peak hours at the moment (rushing Tru to school, dropping hubby off at work). Haha.

love the photo of kirsten putting her hands on her head! uber cute!

been wondering whether I should invest in a dslr, but the weight puts me off. dunno whether i’ll find it worthwhile to lug it around and whether it’ll be too unwieldy when I want to catch all the random shots… :)

    • Reply Daphne May 19, 2010 at 6:08 pm

@koinonia, yah, definitely the weight (and the bulkiness – even worse) makes it rather cumbersome to bring around. I’m kinda at the honeymoon stage of my relationship with the DSLR, still on a romantic high and completely oblivious to its flaws.

Not that there are any, of course.

    • Reply leslie May 24, 2010 at 10:34 pm

@koinonia, get the olympus pen – the most compact, lightweighted DSLR – in my opinion :)

        @leslie,

thanks Leslie! I’ll keep that in mind. Sooooooooo tempted. hopefully its price is proportional to weight. :)

awwwww so cute! are you sure you didnt like to take pictures before this? ;p you’re good.

    • Reply Daphne May 19, 2010 at 11:33 pm

@Sharon, Thanks Sharon. I’m still at the trial and error stage, I think if you take like 1,000 shots you’ll definitely get one or two pretty decent ones. It has been terrific fun though!

Kirsten has her priorities straight. Hear no evil, especially when Mommy is sprouting something negative… everything is gorgeous! Even the uneven streaks of melted makeup racing down Mommy’s loving face ;-)

    • Reply Daphne May 20, 2010 at 8:10 am

@Serline, Haha. Hear no evil indeed. Hmm, I should get her to do “see and speak no evil” too and sell it as a postcard or something.

Fabulous shots !! Make me desire for the same camera then again I think to myself the camera might make a diff but the user is the BIG different maker!

    • Reply Daphne May 20, 2010 at 6:25 pm

@Jaq, Hi Jaq, I’m learning and hopefully these shots will get a lot better over time. I should have started earlier, but I guess better late than never!

Well done Daphne. Those are awesome pictures. BTW, you should try this location near Vivo. It’s called Keppel island. Just before the Caribbean condo, turn left and just follow the road to the end. There is a nice open park with some flowers. Good place to shoot outdoor. Try it. :)

@rachel, I have been dreaming about going back to LA, sunny in spring but with cool breezy air all around. That would be PERFECT for going trigger-ballistic.
